Selver, one of Estonia’s leading grocery retail chains, partnered with re:innovation to unify and modernize its retail planning operations using RELEX Solutions.
Operating a nationwide network of over 70 stores and two distribution centers, Selver manages a highly complex retail environment that spans grocery, fresh foods, consumer goods, and non-food categories. With approximately 1.5 million SKUs, frequent promotions, and strong emphasis on fresh products, the retailer needed a more integrated and scalable planning approach to replace fragmented processes and manual work.
Moving from Fragmented Tools to Unified Planning
Prior to the transformation, Selver relied on a mix of legacy systems and spreadsheets to manage key planning functions. Forecasting and replenishment were handled through an in-house solution, while assortment and promotion planning were managed separately, creating disconnected workflows and limited end-to-end visibility.
The objective was to bring all planning disciplines - forecasting, replenishment, assortment, and promotions - onto a single, data-driven platform that connects central planning with store-level execution and enables stronger collaboration across teams.
Together with RELEX Solutions, and with re:innovation as implementation and delivery partner, Selver is implementing a unified retail planning platform that supports consistent decision-making across the entire value chain.
re:innovation’s Role
As RELEX implementation partner, re:innovation supports Selver throughout the project by designing, configuring, and rolling out an integrated planning setup aligned with the realities of large-scale grocery retail.
Our involvement focuses on:
Unifying forecasting, replenishment, assortment, and promotion planning on shared data
Translating complex, multi-category retail requirements into scalable planning processes
Supporting collaboration between merchandising, replenishment, and operations teams
Ensuring that central planning decisions are effectively executed at store level
By combining deep RELEX expertise with hands-on retail and supply chain know-how, re:innovation helps Selver move from siloed planning to a fully connected operating model.
Optimizing Fresh and Promotional Complexity
A key focus of the project is the optimization of fresh food categories, where accurate forecasting, precise timing, and tight inventory control are essential. The unified RELEX platform supports Selver in managing short shelf lives, batch tracking, and dynamic pricing, while reducing spoilage and improving product availability.
At the same time, connecting assortment and promotion planning with forecasting and replenishment ensures that promotional campaigns, shelf space decisions, and inventory plans work together — minimizing stockouts, reducing excess inventory, and improving overall profitability.
A Foundation for Efficient Growth
By unifying planning processes across stores, categories, and promotions, Selver gains end-to-end visibility, reduced manual effort, and more consistent execution across its retail network. The project creates a strong foundation for operational efficiency, better decision-making, and future growth in an increasingly complex grocery retail environment.
Through close collaboration with Selver’s teams, re:innovation ensures that advanced RELEX capabilities are translated into practical, measurable improvements in day-to-day retail operations.
